Softball Beaten by Cal State Fullerton Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif.
– Santa Clara softball lost to Cal State Fullerton 8-1 Saturday afternoon on the second day of the Silicon Valley Classic II at the SCU Softball Field.

The game was scoreless until Broncos (3-11) starter Lauren Anderson loaded the bases in the fourth. Lauren Schiek came in but allowed all three runners to come across on a sacrifice fly and a two-run double by Deshea Hill.

Anderson (1-6) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits with four walks and a strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.

The Titans (15-8) scored four more in the seventh off Schiek and one off Aubree Kim in the seventh.

Hill led the offense with two hits and three RBIs with Irie Siofele adding a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Julia Valenzuela had three hits with a pair of runs scored and Evelyn Sablan blasted a solo home run.

Dani Martinez (4-3) went 6 shutout innings, allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts, to collect the win.

Santa Clara got on the board in the seventh when a two out error allowed Sarah Ellersick to come across.

Eleni Spirakis had a double and Emma Bickford and Sammy Needham picked up singles to account for the Broncos offense.
