SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Returning to tournament play, Santa Clara softball heads to Fresno to play in the Fresno State Invitational. Saturday, the Broncos will take on CSU Bakersfield at 11 a.m. and Fresno State at 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday they will play the same teams at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The Broncos were swept last weekend at UC Riverside in a three-game series.
THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-17) is hitting .241 as a team with a .334 on-base percentage. The Broncos have scored 78 runs on 30 doubles, five triples, and four home runs.
Regan Dias leads the team with a .348 batting average with 14 runs scored and 11 RBIs. Her .482 OBP also leads the team as does her 16 walks. Sammy Needham is hitting .343 with a .439 OBP and a team-high 13 RBIs and 11 doubles while scoring 10 runs. Eleni Spirakis has scored a team-high 19 runs and also leads with eight stolen bases. She is hitting .338 with a .440 OBP had has seven doubles, a triple, and a home run to go with six RBIs.
Dias has a team-best five wins and has thrown 57 2/3 innings. She has appeared in 13 games and made 10 starts with three complete games. Lauren Anderson has thrown a team-high 67 innings in 17 games, including 12 starts, with four complete games and a save.
THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State (16-11) has outscored its opponents 126-104 so far this year. The Bulldogs have a .287 team batting average with 38 doubles, five triples, and 18 home runs. They have a 3.67 team ERA with 135 strikeouts in 175 1/3 innings.
THE ROADRUNNERS
CSU Bakersfield (10-13) has been outscored on the season 123-89. The Roadrunners are hitting .262 as a team with 18 doubles, nine triples, and four home runs. In the circle, they have an ERA of 4.10 with 70 strikeouts in 160 1/3 innings.
