Early Runs Lift Softball Over Saint Mary's

MORAGA, Calif. – After a quiet day with the bats to open conference play, Santa Clara softball made some early runs stand up in a 4-1 win at Saint Mary's Sunday afternoon.

The Broncos (9-28, 1-2 WCC) got on the board two batters into the game, taking advantage of an error to the leadoff batter, and then added two more in the second to take a quick 3-0 lead.

After a sacrifice fly by Regan Dias got the scoring going, Kelsie Barnard led off the second with a single and Emma Bickford followed with her first collegiate home run.

Dias added another RBI in the sixth to finish the day with two and Morgan Modesto was 3-for-3 with a run scored.

In the circle, Dias (6-8) pitched well, going the distance to collect the win. She allowed a run on eight hits with one strikeout.
