Five Softball Players Bring Home All-Conference Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara softball had five players honored on the All-West Coast Conference Teams, as announced by the league Tuesday.

Senior Kelsie Barnard and junior Hannah Russell were named to the first team with senior Morgan Modesto on the second team and freshman Emma Bickford and junior Eleni Spirakis taking home honorable mention.

Barnard hit .303 on the year and .375 during conference play. She scored 13 runs and drove in 18 with a home run. Eleven of her RBIs and eight of her runs scored came in WCC action.

Russell batted .320 overall with a team-leading 26 RBIs while scoring 11 runs and hitting nine doubles. During the WCC season, she hit .404 with eight runs scored and five RBIs. This is her second consecutive first team nod.

Modesto led Santa Clara in conference play with a .440 batting average and added six runs scored and three RBIs.

Bickford hit .271 overall but .311 during conference play and scored 12 runs with two home runs and eight RBIs against WCC opponents.

Spirakis led the Broncos with 37 runs scored while batting .327 to go with 13 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 15 RBIs as well as 10 stolen bases. In conference action she scored 11 runs and drove in five. She was honorable mention in 2018.
