SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball closed out the Silicon Valley Classic with a 7-0 win over North Dakota Sunday afternoon.

Hannah Edwards (2-3) twirled a gem in the circle, tossing the complete game shutout, the first of her career. The freshman allowed just three hits and a walk with one strikeout.

A four-run third for the Broncos (7-7) put some distance between them and the Fighting Hawks (4-10) and made it a 6-0 game. Taylor Burns got the scoring going with a two-run double and Sarah Ellersick also had a two out RBI single.

Burns led the offense with two hits and three RBIs with five other Santa Clara players adding a hit each. Five players also scored a single run apiece.

A one out double by Emma Bickford in the first got the scoring started and Burns came through with a two out single later in the inning to give the Broncos the early 2-0 lead.

Jannay Jones (1-5) went the distance for North Dakota, allowing seven runs on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Morgan Flann, Angel Love, and Kawena Kalani each picked up a single for the Fighting Hawks.
