Women's Tennis Defeats Saint Mary's 6-1

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's tennis team defeated Saint Mary's 6-1 in West Coast Conference action this afternoon at the SCU Tennis Center. The Broncos' overall record improves to 11-7 on the season, while the Gaels' falls to 9-10 overall. The match marked SCU's second victory over Saint Mary's this season.

The Broncos began the afternoon with a sweep in doubles play, including a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles by junior Bronco Christine Limbers and senior Nicole McCord.

In singles play, Santa Clara won five of six matches, including freshman Janalle Kaloi's victory over Gael Valerie Verrier on court two to clinch the team victory.

Santa Clara remains in conference action and will visit Pepperdine on Wednesday, April 10. The Waves are currently ranked 42nd by the ITA. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. down in Malibu. Santa Clara will return home on Friday, for a 3p.m. showdown against Pacific at the SCU Tennis Center.
