The Championships, administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and hosted by the University of San Diego and San Diego State, is the third-ever co-ed intercollegiate national tennis championship at the Division I level. WTT co-founder Billie Jean King will be on hand all weekend.

SCU junior Christine Limbers and freshman Janalle Kaloi paired up to begin the match against Fresno State and faced the No. 1-ranked tandem in the country, in the Bulldogs' Simone Jardim and Kim Niggemeyer. The Bronco duo fell to FSU 6-0, but senior Victor Camargo pulled the Broncos within two points with his 6-2 victory over Nick Fustar. Fresno State increased its lead with a 6-4 men's doubles victory over Camargo and junior Michael Bruggemann. Moving on to women's singles, FSU expanded its lead 20-10 after Niggemeyer topped Limbers 6-0. In mixed doubles, the Bulldogs took a 6-2 set for the match score's final margin. Niggemeyer had a hand in 18 of Fresno State's 26 points.

Against Oklahoma State, Limbers and Kaloi contributed two points in their doubles loss, while Bruggeman took over men's singles duties and fell 6-3 to OSU's Matt Prentice. That score was repeated in the men's doubles, while Kaloi fell in women's singles 6-2. The mixed doubles match was very close, with the Sooners squeezing out a 6-5 victory.
