Head coach Ben Cabell, on win: "That was a great first win today. Everyone competed hard out there and I am proud of the way that the team brought a lot of energy today. Myra (Davoudi) played a great match at No. 1 and I am proud of Stephanie (Galainena) getting her first win of the season."
Cabell, on doubles: "Myra and Kim (Daniel) had a great match at doubles and that win gave us some confidence going into singles. Also, Erika (Barnes) and Casey (Knutson) are playing very well at doubles right now. They are going to be tough against everyone this year."
Captain Myra Davoudi, on winning doubles point: "Winning that doubles point today was key for us. It really gave everyone a boost going into our singles matches. We changed the lineup around a bit and we were able to get the point and that got us started on the right foot."
Davoudi, on playing at home: "The crowd was very vocal and supportive today. It was fun being out there in that kind of atmosphere and it really helped us step up our game. We need to take advantage of these next four matches at home and try and build some momentum."
Davoudi, on Saint Mary's: "They have a really good team, but we feel that we can compete with them. We have nothing to lose so we have to play our game and try and get a good result. The whole team has to step it up."
Sophomore Stephanie Galainena, on first win of the year: "I was excited to win my first match. I saw that we had some good results going on and I really wanted to finish my match out to keep the momentum going."
Galainena, on consistency: "The whole team has been focusing on being more consistent and that paid off today. We played well in the key moments of the match and once we had an opportunity we took advantage of it. I like the way the team is playing right now."
