Berkeley, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team opened play at the ITA Regionals in Berkeley on Friday afternoon with both doubles teams and five singles players participating. Captains Myra Davoudi and Casey Knutson won her first round matches and showed that they can compete with the best players in the region. The tournament continues throughout the weekend on the campus of UC Berkeley.

Junior Lindsay McBride, who reached the final of the Saint Mary's Invitational last weekend was forced to withdraw due to injury, so just five Broncos were entered into the draw.

In the Round of 128, Davoudi knocked off Gonzaga's No. 1, Emily Anderson, while Knutson defeated a Pac-10 foe from Oregon, Simone Templeton, in three tough sets.
