Barnes Leads Way For Broncos At ITA Regionals

Berkeley, Calif. - Santa Clara's women's tennis team continued play on Saturday at the ITA Regionals in Berkeley. Senior Erika Barnes led the way for the Broncos as she won a singles match and then paired with captain Casey Knutson to win a doubles match. Barnes and Knutson will play in the fourth round of the consolation bracket on Sunday.

Barnes got her singles day started with a win over Nevada's Masako Horino to advance to third round of the consolation bracket along with Meghan Madden and Kim Daniel, who received byes in the second round. All three Broncos then lost in round three.

In doubles, Barnes and Knutson received a bye to round three of the consolation bracket and they breezed to an 8-1 win over a doubles tandem from Davis. They are scheduled to play Nevada's pair of Laetitia Tan and Ly-Huong Dinh at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
