SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team is set to start off its 2015-16 season this weekend at a pair of tournaments.
Joining the Broncos in the Cal Nike Fall Invitational in Berkeley, California, will be the host Golden Bears along with Arizona State, BYU, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Fresno State, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, St. Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State and UC Santa Barbara. All of the matches will take place from Friday through Sunday at the Hellman Tennis Complex and Channing Tennis Courts. Click here for the live stream and here for the daily draws and results.
"We're really excited to get the team back on the court, playing at Cal this weekend," said head coach Ben Cabell. "We're looking forward to seeing what this team can do and we always start our Fall tournaments off with a big challenge. There's going to be lots of strong teams at this tournament, but that's the way we want it. We want to start off playing against the best and I think our women will be ready, this is definitely going to help us, heading into the dual season."
Senior Chelby Cooke and sophomore Zeina El Tawil will be joined by newcomers Madison Clarke and Janet Liu in Berkeley. Clarke is a true freshman, while Liu is a graduate transfer from Dartmouth.

Singles
• 9:45 a.m.: Zeina El Tawil vs. Jessie Lee (UC Davis) - Gold ITA
• 10:45 a.m.: Madison Clarke vs. Blaga Delic (Nevada) - Gold ITA
• 11 a.m.: Chelby Cooke vs. Nicolette Tran (BYU) - Blue ITA
• 11 a.m.: Janet Liu vs. Audrey Mayer (Cal) - Gold ITA
Doubles
• 8:30 a.m.: Chelby Cooke/Madison Clarke vs. Ilana Oleynik/Sayaka Tsugai (Cal Poly) - Gold ITA
• 8:30 a.m.: Janet Liu/Zeina El Tawil vs. Genev McCloskey/Shanna DosSantos (USF) - Gold ITA
In addition, juniors Nabila Farah and Daniella Silva will pair up in doubles and play in the prestigious Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The prequalifying rounds, set for Saturday and Sunday, will be held at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, California. Farah and Silva are scheduled to play at 9 a.m. Saturday vs. Daneika Borthwick and Yukako Noi of Florida State. Click here for the daily draws and results.
"We're really proud of (Silva) and (Farah)," Cabell said. "It's a great honor for them to go down and play in the All-American tournament this weekend, they earned it with their performance in doubles last year. They played No. 1 doubles for us last year and the results got them entry into this tournament. We're proud of them and excited to see what they can do, it's a great start to the season for them to go up against the best doubles teams in the country."
