SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team kicks off its spring season by hosting Holy Names on Sunday at 11 a.m. and then traveling to Stanford for a matchup on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Inclement weather has adjusted the opening weekend schedule. The Holy Names match was set for Saturday and the Stanford bout was to be played Friday.

The Broncos played in four tournaments during the fall season and saw some newcomers burst onto the scene.

"Overall, we had a nice fall," said head coach Ben Cabell. "I'm very impressed with our freshmen, especially Madison Clarke. She stepped in and did very well in her first quarter here."

Clarke reached the round of 16 in singles at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships.

Besides the new talent, Cabell was also very high on the upperclassmen, including junior Danielle Silva.

"Our returning players all performed well," he said. "I saw some nice improvement, especially from Daniella. She had a very strong fall and made some nice improvements in her game. We're looking forward to taking that success into our spring season."

Another junior, Nabila Farah, had a productive fall season as well. She won her singles draw in the Saint Mary's Invitational.

The Broncos are also adding a new player to the team, junior Giannina Ong, for the spring season.

"We're excited to start playing," Cabell said. "I think that we have a pretty experienced team, which is good and if we can stay healthy and rebound from some injuries, I think we can be very successful."

Admission & Parking: Admission is free to Degheri Tennis Center. Parking is available in either the Leavey Center lot or the main campus parking structure. Click here for a campus parking map.
