Women's Tennis Falls to No. 7 Stanford on the Road

STANFORD, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis lost its road match to No. 7-ranked Stanford, 7-0, on Monday afternoon.

"Stanford's a very, very good team," said head coach Ben Cabell. "We would've liked to have won more, but I think we're happy to come away with things we did well and some things to work on."

The Cardinal has a pair of singles players and one double duo ranked among the top 40 nationally.

The No. 10-ranked doubles duo of Taylor Davidson and Caroline Doyle from the Cardinal defeated Nabila Farah and Daniella Silva.

Stanford partners Melissa Lord and Kimberly Yee secured the doubles point with a win over Madison Clarke and Chelby Cooke.

Clarke fell to Stanford's Davidson in singles, who is ranked No. 20 nationally and Cooke was beaten by Doyle, ranked No. 39.

"We want to play the best teams; it's a great way to get better," Cabell said. "We're looking forward to improving for the rest of the season."

For their next match, the Broncos travel to Davis, Calif., to take on the UC Davis Aggies Saturday at noon.
