PROVO, Utah – The Santa Clara women's tennis team closed out its two-match road trip with a convincing 4-1 victory over BYU Friday in West Coast Conference action.

The Broncos (10-7, 3-3) built a commanding 3-0 lead against the Cougars (5-12, 2-3) and then Zeina El Tawil closed out the team's third win in its last four outings with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph against BYU's Taylah Beckman at No. 6 singles.

"I was really proud of the team," head coach Ben Cabell said. "I thought everyone played well in a tough road environment. That's a really good conference win for us."

Madison Clarke and Chelby Cooke secured the other singles victories for the Broncos who improved to 8-0 this season when winning the doubles point.

Nabila Farah and Daniella Silva teamed up to down BYU's Mayci Jones and Toby Miclat 6-4 on the No. 1 court before El Tawil combined with Delphine Rouvillois to down Nicolette Poulsen and Savannah Ware 6-4 at No. 3 for the point clincher.

Clarke won her fourth-straight completed singles match, defeating Poulsen 6-3, 6-3 on the No. 3 court.

"Madison has been on a little bit of a streak which is awesome," Cabell said.

Cooke knocked off Natella Nabieva 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 4 position.

The Broncos, who downed Weber State, 5-2, Thursday, were also in contention in the two uncompleted matches.

Daniella Silva won the opening set against Jones and Nabila Farah was ahead 3-2 in the third set against Ware.

"Dani was awesome again at No. 1," Cabell said. "She has stepped into the role and played well. She keeps giving us a chance to win."

The Broncos will now get a chance to move up the conference standings with their final four matches at home. Next up, they play San Francisco on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. in Degheri Tennis Center.
