MORAGA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis wrapped up competition at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational on Sunday. Junior Zeina El Tawil and freshman Caitlyn Frankel lost a close match in the doubles final.

In the duo's first tournament playing together, they reached the doubles final of the B bracket but came up short, losing 8-6, to Kristina Breisacher and Isabella Von Ebbe (UC Davis).

"It was a good match," head coach Ben Cabell said. "I think it was a really good experience to play in the final and I think they played well. A couple points here and there could have gone either way and that was the difference. I'm happy with what they accomplished. They got some good experience and it was a good tournament for them overall."

The squad returns to action in the ITA Regionals in Stanford, California, on Oct. 21-24.

"Overall, it was good experience," Cabell said. "We played well in some areas and need to work on others but that's normal for this time of year. We definitely made nice improvement from the Cal tournament, which I was happy to see. I think we're looking more comfortable on the court and we will look to improve even more coming up at Stanford."
