Women’s Tennis to Host Bronco Invitational

Tournament Central

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis will wrap up the fall season by hosting the 2016 Bronco Invitational at Degheri Tennis Center. Competition begins on Friday, Nov. 4 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 6.

The format of the competition is a round robin. As a result, the teams play a different team in singles than they do in doubles, thus it is not a strictly dual match.

"We like hosting this tournament," head coach Ben Cabell said. "It's a different format than the other fall tournaments and it has more of a team atmosphere which we like and is what the spring will be like so it's good. It's nice to be at home and not have to worry about traveling. We're looking forward to this one and playing on our home court."

The entire Bronco squad will be competing in the singles and doubles brackets. Freshmen Caitlyn Frankel and Caraline Patterson will look to continue their strong play in the fall. Sophomores Elizabeth Stephens and Madison Clarke will look to finish the fall on a high note along with junior Giannina Ong. Seniors Daniella Silva and Nabila Farah will look cap off an impressive fall season this weekend.

"This is our last opportunity to play and experiment with some doubles teams," Cabell said. "I think that's definitely a goal for this tournament, to see where we're at with doubles going into the regular season. It's also the final chance for players to make a statement and fight for where they belong in the lineup in the spring."

In addition to Santa Clara, the Bronco Invitational will feature St. Mary's (CA), Nevada and San Jose State.

When announced, the draws can be found here. Results will be available at the end of each day of competition.

PARKING: On Friday, parking on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Click here for a campus map and parking restrictions.
