SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis welcomes San Jose State and UC Davis to Degheri Tennis Center this weekend. On Saturday at 11 a.m. PT SCU will square off against SJSU. The matchup against UC Davis is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.

"We play two really good teams this weekend," head coach Ben Cabell said. "Obviously, we're going to be dealing with weather and schedule changes and that will be a big part of our weekend, making sure we're ready to go regardless of the situation." 

The Broncos enter the weekend with a 1-2 record after falling to Nevada (Feb. 11) by a score of 6-1.

Sophomore Madison Clarke is 2-0 on court two this season, picking up a win against Nevada and now owns a six-match winning streak dating back to the fall. Senior Nabila Farah has also won five of her last 10 matches dating back to the fall.

Senior Daniella Silva and Clarke are 2-1 on court in doubles action this season. The Broncos also added freshman Delaney Nothaft to the lineup against Nevada and played her on court two in doubles action with Farah. Nothaft joined the team in January and Cabell feels she will be a good lift to the squad.

The Spartans of SJSU are 2-3 on the year, losing at UC Santa Barbara last weekend but also winning at Cal Poly. On Tuesday, SJSU lost at Stanford 7-0. Sybille Gauvain is 2-3 on court one for the dual match season and is No. 93 in the Oracle/ITA College Rankings for Division I women's singles.

"San Jose State is really good," Cabell said. "We know a lot of their players since we played them in the fall. I'm looking for continued improvement and good competitiveness, I think that is our goal."

UC Davis held a five-match winning streak before having it snapped at Hawai'i last weekend. The Aggies certainly have more match experience than SCU, boasting a 6-2 (0-1 Big West) record on the season.

"We haven't seen a lot of UC Davis," Cabell said. "We think that is a winnable match, though. We're going to be fired up to hopefully get a good win against them."
