SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis hosts Western Kentucky on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT and San Jose State on Sunday at noon. The matches will take place at Degheri Tennis Center.
The Broncos enter the weekend with a 2-4 record after falling to Fresno State last weekend, 6-1.
"Overall, I really have been happy with the way we've been playing," head coach Ben Cabell said. "We really have been playing well but we have a tough schedule. The girls are competing well and I'm happy about that. We're looking forward to these matches and having some nice weather."
Sophomore Madison Clarke is 5-0 on court two this season after her win against FSU. She now owns a nine-match winning streak dating back to the fall. Senior Nabila Farah has also won five of her last 10 matches dating back to the fall and is 3-2 on court three this season.
"Madison has had a really great dual season so far," Cabell said. "What I'm really impressed with about her this season is the way she's competed. She's always been a good athlete and a good ball-striker. She's competed exceptionally well and we're really proud of that. She's tough and I really think she's turning herself into one of the best players in the conference."
Senior Daniella Silva and Clarke are 2-2 on court one in doubles action this season. The Broncos will mix up their doubles lineup this weekend and will incorporate their younger players such as freshmen Caraline Patterson and Caitlyn Frankel.
"This is a chance for our freshmen to step up," Cabell said. "Our goals for this weekend are to readjust our doubles teams and try to find success there and for our freshmen to step up. They've been doing a great job
The Hilltoppers of WKU are 6-3 on the season. Elpida Malamou is 8-0 in dual play, going 4-0 each on courts one and two. Monica Malinen is 6-2 with a 2-1 record on court four and 4-1 on court five.

This is the third time the Broncos have been scheduled to play San Jose State. The previous two matchups were postponed due to rain. The Spartans are 5-4 on the year. Sybille Gauvain is 5-4 on court one for SJSU while Marine Dans is 5-2 in dual play. Miyo Kobayashi is 6-3 in dual play, going 1-0 on court five and 5-3 on court six.
"We're really hoping to use these matches to get us ready for our conference season and see if we can make a run in the West Coast Conference," Cabell said.
