SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis will face Illinois State on Friday at 4 p.m. PT in the friendly confines of Degheri Tennis Center.

The Broncos enter the weekend with a 3-5 record after defeating Western Kentucky but falling to San Jose State last weekend.

"Our record is not great but I think we're feeling pretty good about how we're playing," head coach Ben Cabell said. "We've played well and we have set a goal for ourselves to focus on the upcoming conference matches. We feel good about how we're playing going into these matches and that's a really good sign."

Sophomore Madison Clarke is 6-1 on court two this season after her two matches last weekend. She has won eight of her last nine matches dating back to the fall. Senior Nabila Farah has also won five of her last nine matches dating back to the fall and is 4-3 on court three this season.

Senior Daniella Silva and Clarke are 4-2 on court one in doubles action this season. The Broncos mixed up their doubles lineup last weekend and were able to claim the doubles point against Western Kentucky.

"I like that our team bounces back well," Cabell said. "After some tough matches we always play really well the next match and I really like that about the team. I think that's a good sign also and that will serve us well going forward."

Illinois State is 5-7 on the season and is currently on a two-match losing streak. Valerija Gercar is 13-6 on the season and 8-3 on court five for her squad. Marcia Tere-Apisah is 12-7 overall and 4-5 on court one during dual match play this season.
