SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis will take a break from West Coast Conference action to host Drexel on Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT at Degheri Tennis Center.

"Drexel is a pretty good team," head coach Ben Cabell said. "We obviously don't know a lot about them but it should be a tight match. It seems like all of our matches have been tight this year."

The Broncos enter the match with a 4-7 (0-2 WCC) record after falling to Portland and Gonzaga on the road last weekend.

"We are looking forward to playing at home again," Cabell said. "It'll be good for us to get an outdoor match under our belt before we play Pacific and St. Mary's this weekend."

Sophomore Madison Clarke is 8-1 in dual match play this year, going 6-0 on court two and 2-1 on court one. She has won seven of her last ten matches dating back to the fall.

Senior Daniella Silva and Clarke are 6-2 on court one in doubles action this season and have won four consecutive matches. Dating back to the fall, the duo has gone 8-2 in their last 10 matches have a 9-4 record overall.

The Drexel Dragons boast a record of 13-3 (1-0 CAA) and are riding a three-match winning streak heading into their Bay Area trip. The Dragons face San Francisco on Tuesday before the matchup with the Broncos. Honami Yazawa is 8-3 on court one for Drexel and 2-1 on court two. Lea Winkler has gone 9-3 in dual match play with an 8-2 record on court four.

"We'll use this as a match to keep ourselves sharp," Cabell said. "We've been pretty happy with the way we've been playing. We Just want to make a couple adjustments and keep it going and try to get ready for the two conference matches."
