Women’s Tennis Defeated by Washington State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis was defeated 4-0 by the Washington State Cougars on Friday morning at Degheri Tennis Center.

Washington State (10-12, 0-7 Pac-12) picked up the doubles point over Santa Clara (7-10, 2-4 WCC). The Cougars won on court two to start things off, the Broncos then tied things up with a 6-4 win on court three by juniors Zeina El Tawil and Giannina Ong. Court one was the deciding court and WSU won by a score of 7-6 (7-5) to claim the point.

The Cougars earned three singles victories to secure the sweep over SCU. They won on courts six, three and five (in that order) for the win. Sophomore Madison Clarke had a 6-2, 2-6, 4-1 lead on court one and El Tawil was leading on court four by a score of 6-3, 5-3. Senior Daniella Silva was also in front on court two by a score of 7-6, 1-0.

The Broncos play next at San Francisco on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT.
