Four Women’s Tennis Student-Athletes Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

SANTA CLARA, Calif. –The West Coast Conference announced its 2016-17 All-Academic honorees on Wednesday. The league recognized four Santa Clara women's tennis student-athletes. Seniors Nabila Farah and Daniella Silva two of the 12 were named to the WCC All-Academic team while Juniors Zeina El Tawil and Giannina Ong garnered honorable mention.

Farah boasts a 3.842 GPA and majors in civil engineering. This is the second straight year she has earned all-academic distinction. She went 7-9 in singles play on court three and was 5-7 in doubles, playing the majority of the season on court two primarily with freshman Caitlyn Frankel. Silva is also an honoree for the second straight year. She is political science major with a GPA of 3.639. Silva was named to the All-WCC Doubles Second Team this year for her play with sophomore Madison Clarke.

El Tawil majors in business and boasts a 3.253 GPA while Ong is a double major in English and Classical Studies with a 3.906 GPA.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
