Cal Fall Invitational Draws/Results

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis will be back in action this weekend as it heads to the Cal Fall Invitational in Berkeley, California. The competition is set to begin Friday at California's Hellman Tennis Complex and the Channing Tennis Courts.

"We're really excited to compete. I've been happier with what the team has done so far," head coach Ben Cabell said. "We want to get on the court and compete and see where we are at. Everyone is looking forward to it. They're fired up and itching to get out on the court, which is great."

The non-team scored, three-day tournament includes players from Cal, BYU, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Fresno State, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco and UCLA.

Last weekend, senior Zeina El Tawil and freshman Katya Tabachnik kicked the fall season off at the Battle of the Bay Classic. That twosome will join senior Giannina Ong, junior Madison Clarke, sophomores Caitlyn Frankel, Delaney Nothaft and Maddie Pothoff, and freshmen Nadine Del Carmen and Elvena Gevargiz at Cal.

"We have a lot of new players and haven't been practicing that long, but I'm really happy with what we've done so far," Cabell said. "Our freshmen really stepped up so far, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they can do."

The tournament features three singles draws and three in doubles.
