Cal Fall Invitational Draws/Results

BERKELEY, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis picked up nine singles wins and three more in doubles during Friday's action at the Cal Fall Invitational in Berkeley, California.

In the Gold draw of singles, freshman Katya Tabachnik defeated Sofia Gulnova of Sacramento State 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 32 and knocked off Hanna Borjeson of San Francisco 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the following round.

In the White draw of singles, freshman Nadine Del Carmen rolled past Celine Gruaz of Cal Poly 6-4, 6-2. Later in the day in the round of 16, Del Carmen once again won in straight sets, easing past Sarina Chhabra of San Francisco 6-1, 7-5.

Maddie Pothoff and Madison Clarke, the 19th-ranked doubles duo in the nation, downed Karina Vrylan and Yuki Asami of Pacific 8-3 in the round of the 16 in the Blue bracket.

Play continues Saturday and Sunday at both Cal's Hellman Tennis Complex and the Channing Tennis Courts.
