Women's Tennis Heads To Stanford For ITA Northwest Regional Championships

2017 ITA Northwest Regional Championships Draws/Results

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis plays its next to last tournament of the 2017-18 fall season starting Thursday in the 2017 ITA Northwest Regional Championships which will be held in Stanford, California.

The five-day ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top women's players across the country at the Taube Family Tennis Center on the campus of Stanford University.  Over 8,000 student–athletes from NCAA Division I II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges will compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the nation.  The Northwest Regional will be comprised of players from many of the top programs on the west coast.

Santa Clara's nine-player roster of Madison Clarke, Nadine Del Carmen, Zeina El Tawil, Caitlyn Frankel, Elvena Gevargiz, Delaney Nothaft, Giannina Ong, Maddie Pothoff, and Katya Tabachnik will all see action in singles play.  In doubles action, Clarke, Del Carmen, El Tawil, Gevergiz, Nothaft, Ong, Pothoff and Tabachnik are expected to compete.

In singles, it will be a 128 player draw and for doubles, a 64 team draw.  The winners and runner-ups for singles and doubles will qualify for the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships to be held Nov.1-5 in Palm Desert and Indian Wells, California, serving as the concluding event to the fall portion of the college tennis schedule.

Thus far in the 2017 fall season, Del Carmen and Nothaft leads the team in wins with four apiece.  Gevargiz, Tabachnik and El Tawil each have three wins.
