Women’s Tennis: Pothoff Advances To Round of 32 At ITA Northwest Regional Championships
 
STANFORD, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis newcomer Maddie Pothoff advanced to the round of 32 in singles play in day one of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
 
In a 128 player draw for singles, Pothoff won both her matches in straight sets to advance to Friday's round of 32 match at 10:30 a.m. against ninth seed Emma Wilson of Fresno State.  
 
Pothoff defeated Cal Poly's Caroline Williams, 6-3, 6-2, in the first round before taking care of San José State's Miyo Kobayashi, 7-6(4), 6-3.  
 
Giannina Ong and Madison Clarke also picked up first round wins for the Broncos, before losing in the round of 64.  
 
Pothoff and Clarke are paired up for doubles play and will take on Eastern Washington's Zoey Nelson and Faye Worrall in the round of 32 after getting a first round bye.  The duo will play at 9 a.m. on Friday.
