Women’s Tennis Advances A Doubles Team To Round of 16

STANFORD, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis picked up five wins on Friday at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, headlined by Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff's doubles win to advance to the round of 16 in the open doubles bracket.
 
Clarke and Pothoff, the fifth seeded doubles team in the tournament defeated Eastern Washington's Zoey Nelson/Faye Worrall, 8-3.  They will go up against Oregon's Daniela Nasser/Nia Rose at 10 a.m. on Saturday for an opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals.  
 
Pothoff also played in the round of 32 open singles bracket but lost to ninth seed Emma Wilson of Fresno State in three sets.  
 
The Broncos picked up four additional wins on Friday, all in the consolation bracket.  Zeina El Tawil, Katya Tabachnik and Nadine Del Carmen each won their round of 64 singles matches.  And Elvena Gevargiz and Tabachnik won their round of 32 doubles match.
