STANFORD, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis picked up three wins on Saturday at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, including singles wins by Elvena Gevargiz and Zeina El Tawil and a Gevargiz/Katya Tabachnik doubles win, both in the consolation bracket.
In the open doubles bracket, Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff lost a close one to Oregon's Daniela Nasser and Nia Rose, 8-7(6), in the round of 16 ending their run in the tournament.
Gevargiz defeated Sacramento State's Sofia Wicker Velez in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
El Tawil also won her match in straight sets over Pacific's Mayan Sela, 6-2, 6-2.
Gevariz picked up her second win of the day when she partnered with Tabachnik against San Francisco's Mya Bui and Emily Maxfield to win, 8-5.
