SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis went 13-3 overall on the final day of the rain shortened Bronco Invitational on Sunday, going 8-1 in singles play and 5-2 in doubles play against San José State and San Francisco.

While both Friday's and Saturday's matches could not be fully completed due to rain, the skies opened up on Sunday.   It allowed for the full slate of schedule to be played with the Broncos taking full advantage of it.

"We had some good energy today and it was great to finish the fall season on a high note," said Broncos head coach Ben Cabell.

Freshman Katya Tabachnik, who had a singles win on Friday, picked up three more wins on Sunday to lead the way for Santa Clara.

"Katya highlighted things for us today, winning both her doubles matches with different partners," said Cabell.

In the morning session, Tabachnik paired with Zeina El Tawil to depose San Francisco's Alisha Sharma and Hanna Borjeson, 6-4.  In the afternoon, Tabachnik joined forces with Caitlyn Frankel to beat San José State's Miyo Kobayashi and Tamara Cullibrk, 6-2.  In between the doubles matches, the Bronco freshman took care of business in singles play, beating SJSU's Julie Vereecke in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In singles play, Caitlyn Frankel also had a three set win over San Francisco's Amber Del Rosario, 6-3, 6-7(3), 1-0(8).  Aside from Frankel and Tabachnik's three-set wins, the remaining six wins were all straight sets.

"The goal of the tournament was to set ourselves up for the spring season and we were able to accomplish that," said a pleased Cabell.

The Broncos opens its spring season at UC Davis on January 27.
