Women’s Tennis Defeats Nevada, 4-3
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis earned a hard fought 4-3 victory over Nevada on Friday afternoon under sunny skies at the Degheri Tennis Center.  
 
Just as they did a week ago in the West Coast Conference opener win against San Diego, the reigning conference Doubles Team of the Week duo of Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff each picked up two wins.  
 
Playing in the No. 1 position, Clarke and Pothoff blanked Claudia Herrero and Blaga Delic, 6-0.  The Clarke and Pothoff pair are now 3-0 on the season in doubles play.  
 
The Bronco freshmen duo of Elvena Gevargiz and Katya Tabachnik clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Melissa Huchet and Lili Fekete on court two.  
 
In singles play, the Wolf Pack (3-5) came back to take the first two points winning on courts four and six.  The Broncos (4-5) came right back with wins by Clarke and Zeina El Tawil to take a 3-2 advantage in the match.  
 
Clarke defeated Claudia Herrero in three sets on court one, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.  El Tawil took care of Delic 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) on court three.  
 
Nevada evened the match at 3-3 when Lili Fekete defeated Tabachnik in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
 
In the deciding match, after dropping the first set, Maddie Pothoff took care of Adriana Gergelyova 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the win for the Broncos and extended her singles win streak to seven matches.  
 
The Broncos return to action on Sunday, hosting Cal Poly.  First serve is at Noon PT.
