Women’s Tennis Sweeps Cal Poly, 4-0
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis cruised to a 4-0 victory over Cal Poly on a sunny afternoon at Degheri Tennis Center on Sunday.  It was the third consecutive win for the Broncos to even its season record to 5-5.  
 
In doubles, the Broncos lost just one game on courts No.1 and 2 to clinch the point.  Broncos' No. 1 team of Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff defeated Seriana Saltzen and Molly Reed, 6-0.  Clarke and Pothoff are now 4-0 on the season.   
 
Playing on court No. 2 Elvena Gevargiz and Katya Tabachnik took care of Abigail Bacharach and MacKenzie Worsnop, 6-1, to move to 4-2 on the season.  
 
In singles, the top three positions picked up wins to clinch the victory for the Broncos.  
 
Senior Zeina El Tawil did not drop a single game, blanking Caroline Williams 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 3.  Clarke followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Worsnop at No. 1 before Pothoff beat Susanne Boyden 6-2, 6-1 on No. 2.  
 
It was the second consecutive match that Pothoff had the clincher, following Friday's 4-3 win over Nevada.  Pothoff has now won eight singles matches in a row on the season.  
 
Santa Clara next plays at San Jose State on Sunday at Noon PT.
