SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis released its 2018-19 schedule with the Broncos hosting nine dual matches at Degheri Tennis Center along with the Bronco Invitational. Women's tennis head coach Ben Cabell made the announcement.
Santa Clara will host its annual Bronco Invitational tournament from Nov. 2 – 4 to cap off the fall schedule which include four tournaments plus the invitation only Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Last year, the doubles duo of Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff qualified for the Championships based on their preseason doubles rankings.
All the fall tournaments will be played in the Bay Area with the exception of the ITA All-American Championships. The Broncos will begin its fall campaign at the Cal Fall Invitational from Sept. 29 – Oct. 1 in Berkeley. The following weekend, Santa Clara plays at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Moraga from Oct. 5 – 7, followed by the ITA Regional Championships at Stanford from Oct. 18 – 23 before hosting the Bronco Invitational.
The spring season kicks off on Jan. 18 – 20 at the CSUF Spring Invite in Fullerton, California, before starting its dual match season by hosting Princeton on Jan. 29.
Degheri Tennis Center, on the campus of Santa Clara University, will host UC Davis (Feb. 3), San José State (Feb. 9), Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 21) and Grand Canyon (March 9) in the nonconference portion of the schedule while welcoming Pacific (March 23), Saint Mary's (March 24), San Diego (April 5) and BYU (April 6) for West Coast Conference play.
In late March, the Broncos will trek to the Hawaiian Islands to play Hawai'i Pacific March 27) and Hawai'i (March 28).
Last season, the Broncos went 8-13 overall and 3-6 in conference play returning to the WCC Tournament before bowing out in the first round to LMU.
