SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis will be back on the courts this weekend when it hosts crosstown rival San José State on Saturday and Fresno State on Sunday at the Degheri Tennis Center.  The Broncos (1-1) will be playing for the first time since Jan. 29 after last weekend's match versus UC Davis was postponed due to rain.  That match has been rescheduled for Feb. 24.

The first serve against Spartans will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday and against the Bulldogs on Sunday at 2 p.m.

"Both San José State and Fresno State are solid teams and we are expecting competitive matches," said Broncos head coach Ben Cabell.  "We saw a lot of San José State over the fall so we know their players.  Fresno State has quite a few new players so they will be more of a wildcard to see what they can do.  Obviously we feel good about playing at home but we are expecting some tight matches this weekend."

Many of the Spartans (2-0) and the Bronco players faced one another in the Saint Mary's Invitational and Bronco Invitational last fall.   SJSU last played on Jan. 27 after last weekend's matches were cancelled.

Fresno State (2-2) is coming off two losses over the weekend, falling to Saint Mary's, 4-0, and to Oregon, 4-1, up in Eugene, Oregon.

With potential rain in the forecast this weekend, stay tuned for any updates to the match on www.SantaClaraBroncos.com or the women's tennis social media accounts below.
