SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis will have an extra match on the docket this week when it faces No. 4 Stanford on Thursday and Grand Canyon on Saturday in a nonconference battle.

The contest against the Cardinal (6-1) was re-scheduled for Thursday after the original match was postponed back on Feb. 15 due to rain.  Thursday's match will be held at Stanford with the first serve at 3:30 p.m.

"We are using the Stanford match as a gauge to see how we stack up against one of the top teams in the nation.  We scheduled this match because it helps us later in the season by making us tougher and better," said Broncos head coach Ben Cabell.

The defending national champions feature eight players ranked in the top-125 of the ITA rankings.  Earlier in the season, the Cardinal had its 25-match unbeaten streak snapped by then No. 5 Georgia at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

On Saturday, the Broncos (3-5) hosts Grand Canyon (4-7) at the Degheri Tennis Center for a 10 a.m. first serve.

"After playing matches indoors last weekend at Portland and Gonzaga then heading to Stanford, it will be nice to be back home.  We should be very competitive against Grand Canyon," said Cabell.

The Antelopes have won the last two matches including a 4-3 win over West Coast Conference's Portland on Monday.
