Women’s Tennis to Face UC Davis on Saturday
UPDATED (5:15 p.m. PT, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020) - First serve for Saturday's match is now at 1:30 p.m. instead of at noon.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis kicks off a stretch of four straight matches on the road starting this Saturday when they face UC Davis.  The first serve is at noon.

UC Davis (4-2) has played all but one match on the road this spring.  The lone match at home came in the spring opener against Sonoma State where they won 7-0.  The Aggies will face West Coast Conference's Saint Mary's on Thursday before taking on the Broncos on Saturday.

The Broncos (0-2) opened the spring dual match season with a pair of losses over the weekend, falling 6-1 to Cal Poly and 4-2 against Nevada.

"We learned a lot this past weekend as we are looking to build off it," said Broncos head coach Ben Cabell.  "We played well in doubles against Nevada and made some nice in-match adjustments but we need to start off quicker."

Senior Maddie Pothoff had a strong weekend going undefeated.  Pothoff had a pair of singles wins as well as teaming up with junior Katya Tabachnik to pick up a doubles point clinching win against Nevada.

"Maddie is a competitor that knows how to win matches.  I give her a lot of credit for figuring things out and be a tough competitor in different scenarios," said Cabell.
