SAN JOSE, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis cruised past a shorthanded San Jose State squad 4-0 on Friday in a nonconference match at the Spartan Tennis Complex.

San Jose State (2-5) played without a sixth player that forced the Spartans to default on court three in doubles play and on court six in singles.

Just needing one win in doubles, Maddie Pothoff and Katya Tabachnik took care of business on court one, with a 6-4 victory over Tamara Culibrk and Laura Malsert to clinch the doubles point.

The singles play started with the Broncos ahead 2-0 as Tabachnik won by default on court six.

Santa Clara (3-3) picked up their third point when Rozalina Youseva retired, trailing 6-3, 1-0 to Pothoff on court one.

Madison Clarke clinched the match on court two downing Culibrk 6-4, 6-2.
