SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis fell to LMU 5-2 on Senior Day as two Bronco seniors - Lindsey Pesqueira and Jamie Schroer - were recognized prior to the match at the Degheri Tennis Center on Saturday.
Stefania Rogozinska defeated Velizara Fileva 6-3, 6-2 on court four to clinch the match for the Lions (18-2, 8-1 WCC) which closed out the season for the Broncos (9-9, 2-5 WCC).
Santa Clara and LMU split the first two doubles matches but the Lions got the doubles point in a close match when Ulyana Shirokova and Eva Marie Voracek beat Jamie Schroer and Velizara Fileva 7-6 (7-5).
LMU would win the next three singles matches with Rogozinska's clincher making it 4-0 on the team scoreboard.
The Broncos did pick up two singles wins as Finley Kalinic and Giulia Hayer both won in three sets. Hayer was victorious over Ulyana Shirokova who retired in the third set, 3-6, 6-3, 2-0 and Finley took down Eva Marie Voracek 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9).
