Saint Mary's Fall Invitational Full Results
MORAGA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis completed the first day at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational with two wins each in singles and doubles action on Friday.
In singles play, JennaMarie Gordon defeated Pacific's Klara Kosan, 6-1, 7-5 in the opening round of the blue draw to make it to the round of 16. Varya Zlotnik played in the red draw and also advanced to the round of 16 with a three-set win over Jamie Pope of Saint Mary's 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.
In doubles, Gordon teamed up with Kacey Feng to take down Academy of Art team of Jessica Plazas and Erica Hellbe 7-6 (7-5) in the first round before falling to Sacramento State's Mayya Gorbunova and Tsveti Yotova, 6-3, in the quarterfinals.
The other Bronco doubles victory came in the consolation bracket from Varya Zlotnik and Dasee Carter over UC Davis' Michelle Zell and Madeleine Page, 6-2.
Day two of the tournament continues on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
