Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Freshman Becky Potter posted a career-high 27 kills tonight to lead 16th-ranked Santa Clara in a four-game victory at San Diego in continuing West Coast Conference action.

With the 13-15, 15-13, 15-7, 15-8 victory, the Broncos improve to 23-3 on the season, 10-1 in league action. The Toreros fall to 11-13 overall, 5-7 in the WCC. With four matches left on the schedule, Santa Clara is only three victories away from matching the program's best mark for wins in a season, set by the 1991 squad.

For the third time this season, Santa Clara has lost the opening game by a 13-15 score. It was also only the fifth time in 26 matches that the Broncos lost the first frame.

In addition to Potter, three senior Broncos reached double digits in kills: Ynez Carrasco had 21, Brook Terhune posted 19 and Amy Kohl added 15. Terhune only made two errors in 32 swings for a .531 hitting percentage.

On the defensive front, six Broncos recorded double figures in digs, led by junior Jami Bari's 21, but San Diego outblocked Santa Clara 16-9, despite Terhune's seven blocks.

The Broncos travel to Saint Mary's for a 3 p.m. match on Saturday, Nov. 11. Santa Clara swept the Gaels earlier in the season.
