Muratore Named WCC Co-Volleyball Player of the Week

Oct. 15, 2001

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Freshman Toni Muratore was named the West Coast Conference's Co-Volleyball Player of the Week for her play against WCC rivals Loyola Marymount and 15th-ranked Pepperdine this past weekend. She shares this week's honor with the Waves' Katie Wilkins.

Muratore's selection marks the third time this season a Bronco has been honored by the league office. Sophomore outside hitter/middle blocker Becky Potter was named to last week's honor while senior outside hitter Jami Bari opened this season with the recognition on September 9.

Muratore, a 6-2 middle blocker from Merced's Atwater HS, downed 33 kills in two matches, hitting an impressive .507. She had only four errors in 58 attempts. She posted 18 kills against Pepperdine, just one shy of her career high. Against LMU, she totaled 15 kills and hit .542. Defensively, Muratore added two blocks in each of the contests.

The 25th-ranked Broncos return home to the Leavey Center and will face 15th-ranked Pacific tomorrow night. The match will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a halftime presentation honoring SCU volleyball alumni.
