The Broncos face its seventh match against a ranked opponent this season when No. 15 Pacific visits Leavey Center on Tuesday. The Tigers, 15-4 in 2001, are looking to avenge a three-game loss to the Broncos in Stockton last year that keyed SCU's 5-0 start to the 2000 season and launched the program into the national rankings for the first time in seven seasons. Santa Clara will remain at home for a Saturday night showdown against WCC and Bay Area opponent San Francisco (8-7, 3-3) to close out the first half of conference play.
Volleyball Honors its Alumni
Santa Clara will be celebrating its volleyball alumni Tuesday night against Pacific. In a ceremony between games two and three, fans will be treated to many former Bronco standouts, including 2001 graduate, All-WCC and All-Academic honoree Roz Pelayo. Also attending include Ynez Carrasco '02, Laura Echolds '00, Malissa Iannone '97, Heather Lindstrom '00, Amy Kohl '01, Nancy Mariani '93, Trudy McCullough '67, Laura Raybould '00, Margaret Roderick '76, Heidi Schmuck '99, and Thira Wallwork (Icaza) '97.
Muratore Named WCC Co-Player of the Week
Toni Muratore was named the West Coast Conference's Co-Volleyball Player of the Week for her play against league rivals Loyola Marymount and 15th-ranked Pepperdine. She shares this week's honor with the Waves' Katie Wilkins. Muratore's selection marks the third time this season a Bronco has been honored by the league office. Becky Potter was named two weeks ago while Jami Bari opened this season with the recognition on September 9. Muratore downed 33 kills in two matches, hitting an impressive .507. She had only four errors in 58 attempts. She posted 18 kills against Pepperdine, just one shy of her career high. Against LMU, she totaled 15 kills and hit .542. Defensively, Muratore added two blocks in each of the contests.
In the WCC Statistics
Santa Clara leads the conference in digs (18.40 per game) and assists (14.78 pg) while ranking second in kills (16.30 pg) and fourth in hitting percentage (.206). Individually, sophomore Kelli Sousa leads league setters with a 13.30 mark. Three Broncos are ranked in kills, with Toni Muratore leading the way with the fourth-best mark, a 3.81 average. Becky Potter is sixth (3.56 pg) and Jami Bari is seventh (3.38 pg). In digs, Bari is second (3.58 pg), Merrin Thompson is fourth (3.28 pg) and Potter is ninth (2.93 pg). Bari is also ranked sixth in service aces (0.37 pg). Counting only league matches, Muratore leads in hitting percentage (.417) while Bari is tops in service aces (0.68) and digs (4.00).

A New Arrival to the Squad
Assistant coach Dustin Moore and his wife Kim welcomed their first child, a daughter, into this world last Wednesday. Named Teagan Deborah, she weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces at birth and measured 19.5 inches long. The team is reporting the newborn has already been seen in the Leavey Center shagging balls during practice.
