No. 19 Women's Volleyball Sweeps San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University volleyball team wrapped-up its 2001 West Coast Conference schedule with a sweep over the University of San Francisco by scores of 30-24, 30-16 and 30-28 Saturday night in War Memorial Gym in San Francisco.

Freshman Toni Muratore led three Broncos in double-digit kills with 14 on 24 attacks. Jami Bari added 12 kills and a match-high 15 digs on the evening while Megan Johnston contributed 10 kills on 21 attacks.

As a team Santa Clara (19-8, 11-3 WCC) hit .271 with 53 digs, 56 assists and 10 block assists to dominate San Francisco (9-15, 4-10 WCC). The Dons hit only .143 as a team and had only 31 assists but did play big at the net, racking up 21 total blocks.

With the win, Santa Clara assures itself of a second place finish in the WCC this year, trailing only Pepperdine.

The Broncos will wrap-up their regular season on Friday, November 23 when they take on the University of Idaho in the Leavey Center at 7 p.m. Santa Clara will then await their postseason fate when the NCAA announces the postseason selections on Monday, November 26.
