Becky Potter Named WCC Player of the Week

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's volleyball middle blocker Becky Potter was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week following her 40 kill performance over the weekend that helped the Broncos to the title at the UC Irvine/Marriott Sunset Showcase.

Potter guided the 24th-ranked Broncos to sweeps over James Madison, New Orleans and UC Irvine to open the season. In their first game against James Madison, Potter posted match-highs in both kills (11) and total blocks (4).

Against New Orleans she again posted a match-high 12 kills and a team high three total blocks to go along with three digs. In the tournament finale, Potter posted 17 kills and eight digs en route to tournament MVP honors.

For the weekend she posted the 40 kills in 76 attempts with only 10 errors for a .395 hitting percentage. Her 4.44 kills per game currently leads the team, while her eight total blocks also leads the Broncos. She is also third on the team in digs per game with her 1.44 average.

The WCC Player of the Week honor is the second of her career. She and her teammates will continue their season-long 12 match roadtrip this weekend atthe NAU Fiesta Bowl Classic in Flagstaff, Arizona.
