Cmaylo Receives Second Player Of Week Honor Of The Season

  • SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara volleyball senior Anna Cmaylo earned her second weekly honor of the season as she was named the West Coast Conference's Volleyball Player of the Week, it was announced Monday. Cmaylo led the No. 20 Broncos (10-3, 2-0 WCC) to a 2-0 opening conference weekend with wins against Loyola Marymount and then-No. 15 Pepperdine.

    The middle blocker led the team over the weekend with a 41.7 hitting percentage, four service aces and nine total blocks. For the season, Cmaylo leads the team with 1.10 blocks per set and is tied for first with a 37.1 hitting percentage. She is also tied for second on the squad with 13 service aces.

    The Napa, Calif., native entered the Bronco record books for solo blocks last weekend. Her two solo blocks against the Waves moved her into the all-time career leader category as she is now tied with Katie Hunsaker '89 with 45. Cmaylo's career hitting percentage of 36.3 ranks second all-time, while her total block tally of 396 moves her up to No. 3 all-time. The 6-4 two-time All-American is also 12 block assists away from setting a new school record. The current record of 362 is held by Jennifer Guigliano '93.

    Santa Clara continues WCC action this week on the road against Portland on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and Gonzaga on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
