All-WCC Honors

For the 14th straight season the Santa Clara volleyball team has placed at least one player on the West Coast Conference First Team and this year's entry is junior Dana Knudsen.  In addition, senior Schmidt posted the highest GPA of the 12-member All-Academic Team with three others being named Honorable Mention: juniors Kayla Lommori, Alexandra Palmer and Kaleigh Durket.

"I am really proud of all five women," said Bronco head coach Jon Wallace. "I know the many hours they each put in every week both in the classroom and on the court and so these type of honors are important.  Dana played really well for us this year and stepped up match after match."

Knudsen, a preseason All-WCC team, led the Broncos in hitting at .332.  She was third on the team with 2.36 kpg and third in overall kills with 238.  She was second on the team with .60 bpg.  She played in every set this season at 101.  She was named the WCC Player of the Week twice this week, totally that honor four times.

Schmidt's 3.971 GPA in English led the team. Schmidt was named to the CoSIDA All-District First Team last week and was the only player from the WCC to be named to the All-District Team the past two years.  She recently interviewed for the Rhodes Scholar.
