FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Santa Clara volleyball's strong 2019 campaign will continue into the postseason. The Broncos are one of 32 teams selected for the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).
Santa Clara (20-11, 10-8 WCC) faces Long Beach State (12-16, 9-7 Big West) on the road in the first round Wednesday at 7 p.m.
First-year head coach Erin Lindsey led the Broncos to their 15th 20-win season in program history. Santa Clara won four of its last five regular-season contests.
Taylor Odom set a single-season program record and led the NCAA with 181 total blocks. She spearheaded a defense that led the West Coast Conference with 305.5 total blocks (15th NCAA) and 2.66 blocks/set (20th) NCAA, while holding opponents to a .166 hitting percentage (2nd WCC, 30th NCAA).
Offensively, Julia Sangiacomo ranked fourth in the conference with 372 kills (3.38/set) and third with 445 total points. Michelle Shaffer topped the WCC in aces (49, 25th NCAA) and aces/set (.43, 36th NCAA).
ABOUT THE NIVC
The National Invitational Volleyball Championship is an annual tournament involving 32 of the nation's top women's Division I Volleyball teams. All games, including the semifinals and championship, are hosted by participating schools. Every round is single elimination.

- Round 3 – Dec. 9-12
