Bre Henry completed her third and final season as a Santa Clara volleyball assistant coach in 2021-22.

Henry (née Mackie), hired in February 2019, brings NCAA championship experience to the Broncos from her time as a student-athlete and a coach. She was a standout student-athlete for Long Beach State indoor and beach volleyball as a collegian, earning ACVA All-American Honors for the 2014 indoor season and winning the 2013 beach national championship. Henry joined the Broncos on the heels of a two-year tenure with one of the nation's elite programs at Nebraska. She was a graduate assistant for a Cornhusker team that won the 2017 NCAA indoor championship and reached the title match again in 2018.

During Henry's time with the Broncos, Santa Clara produced three AVCA all-region selections, 12 all-WCC accolades and 10 WCC all-academic nods.

The Broncos battled through the challenges of playing during the COVID-19 pandemic in their 2020 season, which took place in spring 2021 after the fall campaign was postponed. They were one of the toughest serving teams in the country, leading the WCC in aces (114, 33rd NCAA) and aces/set (1.75, 24th NCAA). Julia Sangiacomo was named to the AVCA Pacific North All-Region Team, giving the Santa Clara all-region selections in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2007-08.

Henry helped head coach Erin Lindsey and the Broncos produce a stellar campaign during Lindsey's first season at the helm in 2019. Santa Clara went 21-12 overall (10-8 WCC), reached the postseason for the first time since 2015 and won its first postseason match since 2008 with an opening-round victory at Long Beach State in the NIVC. The Broncos, who logged a 15-win improvement compared to the previous year, also won 20 matches for the first time since 2015. Santa Clara took fourth place in the conference after being picked to finish ninth in the preseason coaches poll. The team's 10-3 nonconference record marked its best start through 13 matches since 2014. Santa Clara was the only WCC program to win 10 matches in nonconference play, which included victories in all six neutral site tournament tilts.

Taylor Odom led the NCAA and set a program record with 196 total blocks, the most in any era in Bronco history and good for fourth all-time in the WCC. Odom became Santa Clara’s first AVCA All-Pacific North Region selection since 2015 and garnered First Team All-WCC honors. Santa Clara led the WCC with 326.5 total blocks (10th NCAA) and 2.63 blocks/set (22nd NCAA), while holding opponents to a .168 hitting percentage (2nd WCC, 32nd NCAA). The Broncos also excelled in the classroom by matching a program best with five WCC all-academic honorees, including three student-athletes on the WCC All-Academic Team for the first time since 2005.

During Henry's two seasons with Nebraska, the Cornhuskers went 62-11 while producing four All-Americans and six all-conference selections. In 2017, The Big Red went 32-4 overall and 19-1 in Big Ten play as part of a conference championship and national championship campaign.

Prior to her run at Nebraska, Henry played for the Philippines-based Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors of Shakey's V-League in 2016. Henry and the team claimed the league's 13th Season Reinforced Open Conference championship. Henry also played for VBC Cheseaux in Switzerland from 2015-16.

As a senior at Long Beach State in 2014, Henry hit .303 with 2.84 kills/set and 1.12 blocks/set en route to an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American selection. The 49ers went 27-5 and a perfect 16-0 in Big West play that year. Henry was an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee in 2015.

Henry, a native of Redding, California, studied kinesiology as an undergraduate student at Long Beach State before earning a master's in sports and exercise psychology from Argosy University in 2016 and a master's in education administration from Nebraska in 2017.

"I am very excited about Santa Clara volleyball and the program's future," Henry said upon being hired. "I am grateful to continue to develop as a coach under Coach Lindsey and the supportive administration."

Head Coach Erin Lindsey on Henry: "Bre is an up-and-coming young coach who I expect to make an immediate impact in our gym and in recruiting the best and brightest to Santa Clara. As a former NCAA student-athlete and professional volleyball player, she will be an exceptional role model for our current team and future prospects. Being a part of the 2017 Nebraska Cornhusker national championship staff, she has perspective of the work it takes to put a team in position to win championships. Bre will take on the role of recruiting coordinator, a natural fit with her strong communication skills and ease at relationship building."
