SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Coming off a banner season where she was named to the 2013 First-Team WWPA All-Conference, Julia Peters added another huge feather to her cap on Monday when she was named 2013 All-American Honorable Mention by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

Peters is just the fourth Bronco in women's water polo program history to be named to an All-American team. The other Bronco All-Americans include Kimberly Yost in 2001, Lindsey Bacolini in 2006 and Amy Lamb in 2009.

"It is a huge honor to receive this award and such great recognition from the ACWPC," said Peters. "After coming off of multiple injuries last year, I knew I had to work hard to stay healthy so that I could make an impact for the Broncos. Receiving this award showed me that all of my hard work paid off and an extra boost of motivation to continue working hard for years to come."

This season, Peters played in all 33 games, starting 32 of them, and led the team with 50 goals scored. With such a strong season, Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur hope to help Peters to continue to progress and keep her with a clean bill of health in the next three years to come.

"Julia had a very strong season after coming back from a medical red shirt year as a freshman," said Wilbur. "She is a very talented player with a great understanding of the game. She led our team in goals scored, earned ejections, penalty shots drawn and she was second in steals. She is an impact player on our team, and I am very glad she was recognized by the ACWPC for her accomplishments this past season. She is joining a very special group of players who were All-American while playing women's water polo at Santa Clara."

The Broncos will pick up their season again in January. Make sure to keep up with Julia Peters and the rest of the Broncos team throughout their season. Go Broncos!
