No. 18 Broncos Senior Day April 6

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The No. 18 Broncos continue their conference play this weekend as they are set to play Fresno Pacific on April 5 and host the University of Pacific on April 6. The Broncos will also be celebrating their Senior Day on April 6 in their second game of the day against Bay Area rival Cal State East Bay. 

The six seniors being honored for the Broncos are June Afshar, Jenny Anderson, Laura Burtness, Claire Eadington, Ashley Letrich and Kaitlyn Murphy.

Afshar has anchored the Bronco defense in the cage this season with 133 saves and averages almost nine saves per game. Eadington is tied for third in the conference with 34 assists and is tied for eighth with 37 steals. Murphy leads the Broncos with 35 goals and averages two per game. 

"This is a great senior class with six players who have brought a lot to our program over the past four years," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur.  "They have really come together as a group and their leadership has been instrumental to our success this season.  Our team and our fans really look forward to honoring them on Sunday."

Fresno Pacific has a young roster, with only three seniors. The Sunbirds are led by sophomore Emily Marr, who has 26 goals for the season. In the cage for the Sunbirds is junior goalie Kelsie Harvey who is fourth in the conference at 223 goals saved this season. The Sunbirds are 0-3 in conference this year.

The Broncos will host two long time rivals in Pacific and East Bay on Sunday. The Tigers are 1-2 in conference play, falling to Loyal Marymount and Azusa Pacific last week. Leading scorer for the Tigers is junior Taylor Adair who is sixth in the conference with 42 goals scored and averages two goals a game. Close behind Adair is sophomore teammate Gracie Smith with 41 goals and also averages two goals a game. 

In the cage for the Tigers is freshman Meghan Nee. Nee is second in the conference with 200 saves and  averages 10 saves per game. 

The Pioneers are currently on a four-game winning streak but will face some tough top-20 competition before they meet the Broncos on Sunday.

Canadian native and senior Sara Hudyn leads the Pioneers by a considerable margin with 64 goals and 20 steals. Junior goalkeeper Marrina Nation has put up 222 saves, 23 steals and averages only nine goals against her this season.
