No. 18 Broncos Win in Final Second Over Cal Baptist

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - In the final conference game of the season the No. 18 Broncos hosted Cal Baptist at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. After battling up and down the pool, the Broncos were able to pull off the 15-14 win in the final seconds of the game and seal the No. 3 seed for conference championships.

Elle Surber started the game off with a Broncos goal. The Lancers earned an ejection that they converted for a goal to tie the game 1-1. The Broncos earned their own ejection that was converted by Ashleigh Bandimere to keep the Broncos lead. The Lancers went on a two-goal run, but Elizabeth Anderson found the back of the net to tie the game 3-3. After a missed man-up opportunities on both sides of the pool, Claire Eadington scored in the final seconds to end the quarter 4-3, Broncos advantage.

Surber again started off the quarter with a goal, 5-3 Broncos. The Lancers proceeded to go on a three-goal run before Julia Peters was able to put a goal in for the Broncos and tie the game six all. The Lancers took the lead by two goals before Surber found the back of the net for her third goal of the game, 8-7 Lancers advantage. Peters put in one for the Broncos but the Lancers held onto their lead going into half, 9-8.

Kaitlin Murphy started off the third quarter with her first goal of the game, tying it at nine all. Surber followed up with a goal to take the lead over the Lancers and Jenny Anderson put in two goals and E. Anderson scored one more to give the Broncos the 13-11 advantage over the Lancers heading into the final quarter.

The Lancers brought it back within one in the beginning of the fourth, but Sheridan held them at bay with a Broncos goal. The Lancers were able to tie the game up 14-14 with less than a minute to play. The game looked like it was going to head into over time with neither team being able to score. With one second left on the clock, Peters found the back of the net and gave the Broncos the 15-14 win over the Lancers.
